Transport of dangerous goods by road/by railway - ADR/RID

Accord européen relatif au transport international des marchandises Dangereuses par Route

Anyone who loads, transport, carry and discharge dangerous substances belonging to one of the thirteen classes of ADR (acronym of Accord européen relatif au transport international des marchandises Dangereuses par Route) is required to apply a number of requirements: the consignor (or sender) needs, for example, to provide for the classification of goods, to choose the appropriate packaging in accordance with its hazardous characteristics, to provide the carrier with all the necessary documentation, in order to make transportation safe. Among the documents required for road transport there are the "written instructions", in the language of the crew, bearing instructions to follow in case of accident.
Transportation by rail - RID (di règlement concernant le trasport international ferroviaire des merchandises dangereuses) follows legislative rules very similar to those ones provided by the ADR with some specific characteristics such as the transport in tank wagons.
